Between knowing and building

Why research, engineering and entrepreneurship are different expressions of the same curiosity.

There is a question I keep returning to: what becomes possible when we connect things that are usually kept apart?

It appears in my research, where I explore the relationship between symbolic knowledge and large language models. It also appears in my professional life, where I move between computer science, data, software engineering and entrepreneurship.

I think of these as different expressions of the same curiosity. Each gives me a way to approach something I do not yet understand, and a way to give an idea a form.

Two worlds, one thread

In industry, I work as an AI engineer, a data scientist and a software engineer. I am also building Notheris, my own entrepreneurial project.

In academia, I am studying for a doctorate in artificial intelligence. My research direction is hybrid artificial reasoning: exploring how knowledge-based symbolic systems can solve reasoning tasks complemented by large language models.

These are different settings, with different questions and ways of working. But the connection between them matters to me. A practical challenge can make a theoretical question feel urgent. A research question can change the way I think about building a system.

Understand more deeply. Build with that understanding. Return with a better question.

That is the rhythm I want this space to express.

A question about reasoning

The question behind my doctoral work is open: how can symbolic systems based on knowledge and LLMs complement one another in reasoning tasks?

It is a direction I am pursuing, rather than a finished answer I am presenting. I want to make room for the process of asking, exploring and revising, as well as for the things that eventually take shape.

The mathematical sculpture on this website is a visual expression of that interest. Its explicit structure and continuous geometry are metaphors. They invite exploration of a connection; they are not a demonstration of a reasoning model.

Give curiosity somewhere to go

For me, curiosity becomes more interesting when it has somewhere to go. An idea might become an experiment, a piece of software, a conversation with another researcher, or a project with an organization.

Notheris is one expression of that impulse: the engineering studio I am building on my professional experience. This website is another: a place where my academic and professional identities can meet, and where someone else can find a connection to their own work.

I want the notebook to make some of that thinking visible. Questions, connections and perspectives deserve a place alongside the things we build.

The next connection

If you are building a team, pursuing a research question, or imagining something for your organization, there may be a conversation here worth having.

Tell me what you are trying to understand. Tell me what you want to make possible. That is a good place to begin.

What question are you working on?

The best part of sharing an idea is discovering what it connects to.
